Blackberry 8100 Pearl

Many a business people can relate, that without their trusted Blackberries they would be lost. They use them to keep appointments, keep in touch with business associates or clients, and to stay organized. One of the newest Blackberries on the market is the Blackberry 8100 Pearl. But what makes this Blackberry better than the others? Let's find out…

The Pearl, like its predecessor the Blackberry 7107t, is very different from previous Blackberries. What makes the Pearl so much different than other similar devices is that the handset is more like a phone. This makes it much easier to make and take important calls.

Also the RIMs engineering fits a QWERTY keyboard into the thin, sleek design weighing only 3.16 ounces. The buttons on the keyboard all share two letters. They do this so when you are writing it can predict what you are writing, thus making typing much quicker. There is also a program built in that learns your most commonly used words and fills them in for you as you write.

Other updates to this version include a four wheel control ball, making navigation much easier. The screen is also larger, measuring 240 x 260. This makes it easier to read emails and to navigate through web pages. There is a camera with LED flash and white balancing on the Blackberry Pearl as well. And you can play music through the MP3 player included on the device. This will play music in MP3, AAC, AAC+, and eAAC+ formats.

The calling features on the Pearl are fairly standard: it has a speaker-phone that allows for hands-free conversation, as well as call waiting and other common calling features. A great option that is included though is the wireless headset that is available through the built-in Bluetooth.

Some of the standard features of the phone include: vibrating alert, speed dial, and a contact list/address book. You can add a ring-tone to each contact; the phone comes with thirty-two ring-tone choices. Another impressive new feature that comes with the new Blackberry 8100 Pearl is the 'Speaker Independent Voice Dial'. This feature allows you to call anyone in your contact list just by saying their name, no programming necessary. This should be extremely helpful with driving.

One of the main purposes of a Blackberry is to make communication easy and at your fingertips, and that is exactly what the Pearl has done. With this Blackberry you can receive e-mails from up to ten email accounts (business or personal). You never have to worry about checking your accounts for new emails because the device is designed to do this for you. Every time you get a new email you also get an alert to let you know. There is also built-in support that allows the viewing of attachments in emails (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Word-Perfect, and PDF formats).

If your company has Blackberry Enterprise Services, you can synchronize your desktop with your Blackberry wireless. If your company does not have this service, then you can do this manually through Bluetooth or the use of an USB cable. The Pearl also comes with instant message and wireless messaging with AOL, Yahoo, and ICQ.

Overall the Blackberry 8100 Pearl is a Blackberry for people who like a device with many extras. And with how easy the Pearl is to use, who could blame you for wanting extra? All the features and benefits of the Pearl including the added bonus of being small and sleek makes this a nice option for anyone in the market for a Blackberry.
