iPod Touch
Listen closely as I tell you exactly why you should consider getting an iPod touch. In 2007, Apple released the iPhone. Everyone either loved it or wanted it, but there was one HUGE problem with the iPhone - the only company you were allowed to use it through was AT&T.
AT&T is a great company and one of the most widely used cell phone companies in America, however that doesn't mean they have the very best coverage everywhere and there are millions who wanted an iPhone that were already customers of other companies. Exactly why Apple shut out other companies one can't be sure, but by doing so they lost millions of customers who were not ready to take on the AT&T plan.
Not only was the iPhone available only through AT&T, but you also had to sign up for a 2 year contract and foot the whole bill for the new phone. There was no sign-on bonus for this. At $400 and more per phone, the iPhone is still considered very expensive not just to buy but to own and use as well.
This is where Apple gets smart though and delivers the iPod touch. Everyone was well aware of the great new features in the iPhone that were features of the up and coming new iPod version, and these features were delivered in the iPod touch just a few months after the launch of iPhone.
iPod touch has all the features that the iPhone has with just one exception, the cell phone. The iPod touch has the bright new 3.5 inch screen, the manual scrolling, and even the Internet if you have WiFi. For all of the people out there who wanted an iPhone but couldn't leave their current company, the iPod touch is a great alternative.
With up to 32 GB the iPod touch can hold more songs and videos than the iPhone, and there is no contract necessary when getting the iPod touch. All of the same applications are included such as Facebook, MySpace, eBay and YouTube. You can even still download documents from the Internet while using your iPod Touch.
As with all other Apple products, Apple seems to be sure that the iPod touch will stick around. They are offering information on their website about developing more applications for the iPod touch. This means that developers and hackers (people who find tips and tricks) will be coming up with new and improved ways to use your iPod Touch. It should be interesting to see just how useful this product will become.
The price for the iPod touch is just between the regular iPod and the iPhone. They start at about $299 and go up to $499 for the full 32GB version. If you already have a carrier for your cell phone that you are very pleased with, and you would like to have an iPod that goes online as well, the iPod touch is your best bet. Check it out at your local electronics store or at Apple.com
